Somewhere to stop for a while.
Sometimes the thing that brought you here is obvious. Sometimes life simply no longer feels quite like yours.
Most people who come here are not in crisis. They are managing. They are going to work, answering messages, doing the things that need doing.
They have simply reached a point where something needs saying out loud, and there is nowhere ordinary to say it.
What people bring
There is no single reason to start. These are the three most common, and each of them has a page of its own.
Michael Deane
I have worked as a counsellor for eighteen years, the first eleven of them in a hospice and a bereavement service. Before that I did something else entirely, for a long time, and I was not especially happy doing it.
I am quiet in the room. I ask questions when they are useful and stay out of the way when they are not. I do not talk in the language of therapy, and I will not ask you to.
How this works
The practical parts, without having to look for them.
- Sessions
- 55 minutes, weekly, at the same time each week.
- Where
- A consulting room on Fisher Street, Lewes. Tuesday to Thursday in person; Monday and Friday online.
- Fee
- £70 a session.
A small number of places at £45.
- First contact
- An email or a phone call. Then 20 minutes, free of charge, to work out whether to meet.
You do not need to know what is wrong before you get in touch. Most people don't. That is usually what the first conversation is for.
